The Pay Off

Well, I cried in Auditory-Verbal therapy last week and I did it again this morning in Physical therapy! And, no, I don't think it's the pregnancy hormones! It is absolutely amazing to see the changes in our little boy. Things are really coming together for him. Last week in AVT, he was so expressionative with Krissa and willing to verbalize about everything! Such a change from our silent boy!
This morning in PT was similar with many good changes. First of all, William is pretty reserved and it generally takes him a bit to warm up to people. He actually treated Laci like she wasn't so bad today. And he worked hard for her: standing on his own without hyperextending his knees, standing up and sitting down on his own without using anything to pull up on, and maintaining a squatting position for several minutes. The change is remarkable! Last week, Liesa adjusted his orthotics, making several cuts and changes. He has actually enjoyed wearing them since. I am very excited to see the upcoming changes! It makes all the trips completely worthwhile!

Therapy Daze

A look at William's "daze of therapy":

Auditory-Verbal therapy

Physical therapy

Low-Vision therapy

Oral Motor Sensory therapy

Physical therapy

Physical therapy

Occupational therapy

Working on therapy at home:
We have finally worked out a schedule that helps us to balance our time at home with our time at therapy and our new system is working well. We are getting so much accomplished! Yes, I'm still tired, but I really think after the baby is born a lot of that will subside. I'm very excited about all the good that is being done for William and for the other children as well. They are doing a great job staying on task! They are really recognizing the value of ordering their time and "numbering their days."

"So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom." Psalm 90:12

Hearing 1 Year!

William has been hearing for 1 year today! There are so many new things he is doing and, truly, I will eventually post video of some of his cute sayings when all of the sickness subsides. For now, we put together this video of some of his trials and triumphs over the last year. Be sure to let us know what you think.

I posted the video in the sidebar under "1 Year Hearing." However, if you would prefer to watch it with captions to the song, click on this link:

The Season is Upon Us

Our little guy is very ill right now. His breathing is labored and he is still pretty lethargic. We upped his breathing treatments and today has actually been a bit better. I think we are starting to see some improvements, but we still covet your prayers. Thank you.

"Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord." James 5:14

Cochlear's Nucleus 5

No, I haven't disappeared from the blogging world. With all of our new therapies, I've just been too busy to post lately. I'll update more on all of that at a later time, but for now I have some exciting news: William got his new processors today! He is part of a test study for Cochlear's new Nucleus 5 which, by the way, is absolutely amazing!

The headpiece is so thin and lightweight that he is able to wear it without all of the Babyworn accessories (i.e., cords and clips worn on his shoulders). And he loves it! I love it, too! Especially the remote control! I can control everything from the remote without ever having to take the processor off his ear - volume, program, alarms, troubleshooting, and SO much more!
William also really likes the remote control! Hmmm, I'll have to keep it put away!
And, possibly one of the best features: with it's IP44 protection rating (the only one in the industry, by the way) we don't even have to worry about water so much! So tonight he took his first bath...

...with sound, that is! And of course, sharks are MUCH more interesting when you can hear the tail fin flapping! Very exciting!
"O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of praise." Psalm 47:1
